The Fourth Death of Jim Corrigan (History of the Bronze Age Spectre, Part 8)

Today we're returning to the History of Spectre to talk about the fall of the Cult of the Blood Red Moon, the romance between the Spectre and Madame Xanadu, and the astoundingly fourth death of Jim Corrigan! First up is Spectre Vol. 2 #14, written by Doug Moench, art by Gray Morrow, colouring by Adrienne Roy, letters by Augustin Mas, and edited by Robert Greenberger. In this story, the Spectre seeks out to rescue Kimmy Liang and Madame Xanadu from the spellcraft of the Cult of the Blood Red Moon. This takes them into issue #15, with the same creative team but with Tatjana Wood colouring. Here, Jim Corrigan and Spectre emerge into a single being and travel into a mystical realm contained within Xanadu's possessed Tarot card reading deck. Next, in Spectre vol. 2 #16, written by Moench, pencils by Chris Wozniak, ink by Mark Farmer, colouring by Anthony Tollin, lettering by John Cstanza, and edited by Andrew Helfer. In this story, Jim Corrigan reunites with NYPD cop Pete Quarral to work with the Spectre and take out the Cult once and for all. After that we get into two stories from Spectre Annual vol. 2 #1, a 1988 comic written by Moench, art by Jim Baikie, Gordon Purcell, and Doug Hazlewood, colouring by Julianna Ferriter, lettering by Annie Halfacree and Bill akley, and edited by Greenberger. Here, Spectre goes on an adventure with Deadman to take on the spawn of Satan, while later having some fun with Kim Liang, Corrigan's love interest. Then we get into Spectre vol. 2 #17, written by Moench, pencilled by Wozniak, inked by Ricardo Villagran, coloured by Lovern Kindzierski, lettered by Costanza, and edited by Helfer. Here, Jim and Pete team up again, with tragic results! This is followed up on in issue #18, written by Moench, pencilled by Wozniak, inked by Mark Badger, coloured by La Badger, inked by Costanza, and edited by Helfer, where the Spectre finally has a showdown... with Jim Corrigan.
