The thing is, as much as I agree people with a platform must speak up in times od crisis, you gotta understand not everybody would know about everything going on in the world. I do speak up on a lot of issues but I can’t possibly have an informed opinion on everything. I’m not any smarter than the rest of you. Don’t look up to me for what is not my expertise. I may be misinformed at times. Just as much as you. If you really want someone to look up to, there are far more knowledgable and learned researchers, historians, lawyers, activists you can follow for a sound opinion. Entertainers se tum journalism expect karte ho aur wahan news channels pe journalists humare hisse ka entertainment karke nikal jaate hain. How about you hold the right people accountable for the right things? Also, I have a platform but guess what, you have a social circle too. You have an influence too. You’re just as much a voice as me. Before you tell me how to use my workplace (yes, Instagram is literally my workplace ) I wanna know how you use your workplaces to spread awareness. Do you know about every issue? Are you bringing up global issues to discuss during your office concalls? Are you asking your teachers and professors to talk about relevant issues in your virtual classes? Are you doing YOUR bit? Are you talking to your parents & neighbours everyday about these issues? (Because guess what, most of these people aren’t on Instagram). Or is your concern for the world limited only to reminding others how to be responsible? #raiseyourvoice #speakup #influencers

We as masses like to seek validation or some sense of confirmation from celebrities. Like you rightly said, what is the reason we (as masses or consumers) actively seek (just like how many would be DMing you) entertainers to take a stand? While some celebrities do end up taking a stand we cannot turn to celebrities for everything. Sometimes the opinion of an expert should also be actively sought. Unfortunately, that is not easy and ofcourse it does not have the same impact on us.

Also, I do think all the platform holders do have a responsibility of using is in a manner which is not just capitalistic but has some sensitivity towards social mishaps. That doesn't mean that every influencer has to engage in preaching just for the sake of it. In fact they need to be extra careful of their stance. And thus, no comments are always better than uneducated comments.
Also, all those so frickin worried about Israel-Palestine : study and engage upon enriching your knowledge instead of debating on stories and comments. Your comments are of NO help. Help your family, your neighbors and the immediate needy ones. They are the ones into whose lives you can make a direct change and that's where the society needs your conviction.
So dumb of you to think that a dispute like Israel-Palestine could have a difference due to their uneducated comments.

Having said that public figures have the platform. That's true. They have the attention true. But they are exposed too. They have to bear the brunt of this privilege. That's the irony of it all.
