She barely ever trained at all herself, and everything she learned, she learned from the Jedi texts which Luke had been storing and studying himself for decades. MaRey Sue's concept goes against everything the Jedi were, humble monks which had to train hard for decades to master the Force somewhat, no matter how naturally gifted they were. Even Anakin and Luke had to train for years, and they still got their asses kicked on several occasions. ... 15

No matter how well you've crafted your female characters, the moment you say "strong", you've shot yourself in the foot. Your potential audience will first think of Merey Sue and the whole related bunch of wooden planks. Say "vulnerable", "overconfident", "flawed", or just straight up "weak". Your welcome.

@sjent4 years ago Is anyone really surprised ? I think it was obvious long time ago. In the same manner as they screwed up Doctor Who lore, with whole Timeless Child bullshit. It is one of the those things that have been happening all over for past couple of years, where they put wahmen/poc/LGBTQ+ in front of well established and beloved characters and franchises. By rewriting lore and somehow putting one of those at the source, so that they could be forcefully inserted as reason for this or that character prominence.
"Its not Lukes story, its Reys, she is in the beginning and in the end. Alpha and Omega. Without her Luke is nothing. Without her Lukes legacy is worthless." That is the narrative being pushed. ... 2
