L298N dual H-Bridge motor driver, how to drive it with Arduino and get desired switching frequency

Published 2021/07/14

L298N is a dual H-Bridge which is commonly used as a motor driver. The module cost less than 3 euro if purchased from ebay or Aliexpress. Excellent tiny module to learn how H-bridge works and to do lots of other investigations. I plan to use this module to teach you how to make different types of converters and how to control electric machines. In the first stage I want to drive a transformer. Its important that the bipolar waveform created by the H-Brige does not have DC component, otherwise when we apply it to a transformer it might cause transformer core saturation. Also when designing a converter in many cases we need to create specific switching frequency to achieve soft switching. I will show you how to code Arduino to achieve exact switching frequency at the put of L298N. You can watch my previous video about how to control Arduino to achieve fast pulses: https://studio.youtube.com/video/y11JhCXaxZg/edit Finance: N=22, subs=485 Available budget (N): 485-100-22*(22+1)=-121 Storage limit: 2^ln(485)=72,71
