Puto is PH steamed rice cake/muffin and Siopao is the Filipino indigenized version of the Cantonese steamed bun.
Combine the two, you get PUTOPAO, a light and fluffy steamed rice cake made easier by using all purpose flour with savoury pork filling and topped with cheese.
Ingredients
Asado Filling:
500 g Pork cubes
Salt & Pepper
2 medium Onions, chopped
4 cloves Garlic, minced
1 tbsp Soy sauce
1 tbsp Oyster sauce
4 Laurel leaves
1 Star Anise
1/2 cup Water
Puto Batter:
2 cups All Purpose Flour
200 g Sugar
30 g Baking powder
2 med size Eggs
1/4 cup melted Butter
1 1/4 cup Water
