I've heard several fans on both sides say "Sonic's platforming was never original, just Mario-platforming sped up" when that's demonstrably not the case for those who look beneath the surface.
Yes, classic-Sonic's formula as we know it today wouldn't exist if Mario hadn't helped lay the foundations for platforming. But Sonic didn't change the concept with speed alone. There were also fundamental differences in level/enemy design. Sonic Team took pre-existing concepts and committed to their own direction, earning praise in their own right. ....وسعت 29

Like actually following through with that water level gag would've id="hidden11" class="buttons"> been good. Or seeing him try to make some of the single tile jumps in the later worlds of the game. I also would've loved to see Mario trying to tackle some of the loops, half-pipes and other physics-based bits in Sonic levels. I feel like there was so much more that could've been done with this, and as it is, it's alright, nothing spectacular.
