@kevatut239 months ago Expectations regarding Ukraine's peace negotiations are absurd.
If this were boxing, we would ask that one combatant tie one arm behind his back, and stand still while he gets pummeled.
Then when the bell sounds, he is asked to forfeit the fight, and his house.
Where is the UN? Under what logic do we expect a country to be invaded, have both it's civilian population and infrastructure destroyed, and undergo torture and theft?

@seadog88079 months ago I think the massive frustration Gen. Breedlove expresses is felt an large percent of the west. More, much more, needs to be done to enable Ukraine to win this war outright, anything short of that is criminally short sighted and a total affront to everything that we in the west should be standing up for.
As always, a great interview run by Kate, many thanks for posting 👍👍

@johnnytampocao76719 months ago The General is exactly right that the west particularly America hasn't given Ukraine the tools needed in a western style offensive. Another topic that I like what the General said is the restriction given by the west not to attack Russian territory using the western weapons which is ridiculous while in fact the west allowing Russia to attack Ukraine anywhere they choose including civilians without any warning or protest from the west. ... 28

@raydunn25829 months ago More pearls before swine. I cannot imagine that many active-duty military are not advocating the same level of commitment that Gen. Breedlove (among others) has stated. The only saving grace in this conflict must be the almost complete incompetence of the Russian forces. Otherwise, Ukraine would have been overrun long ago. Had the West provided the tanks, aircraft and long-range artillery required to actually win the war, this could have been much closer to being over by now. ... 5

@felsig119 months ago I always enjoy these interviews with Gen. Breedlove because he gives good, reliable information and, at the same time, isn't afraid to call Western leadership to task regarding topics such as restrictions these leaders have placed on Ukraine and their slow pace in providing promised aid or in promising certain types of aid in a timely manner. This interviewer is always excellent, asking specific questions but still allowing space for the General to answer as broadly or as specifically as he would like. Very good content. ... 93

@vipulajayasinghe9 months ago It was George Santayana, the Philosopher who came out with the quote “Those who do not learn History are forced to repeat it” and another one of his quotes “Only the dead have seen the end of war.” As far as Russia and the rest of the world is concerned Santayana seem to be right on the spot. However, is it that Russia’s history repetition takes a bizarre, macabre and eerie turn on and off. There was the ‘mad monk’ Gregory Rasputin who managed to get him into the royal court and have the ear of Empress Alexandrovna, the Tsar Nicholas’s consort so as to make himself the most powerful man in Russia. Even now, the names of Rasputin and Putin rhymes in a deadly echo ! Has Putin become the avatar of Rasputin ! Where to find a present day Prince Yosupov, who did away with Rasputin ! Even the Russians and the rest of world does not seem to be duly bothered about these strange, macabre happenings. As for “Only the dead have seen the end of war” is quite pertinent to Russia who suffered death tolls amounting to millions due to wars, revolutions and what not. There is a small S.Asian country which has had a 30 year long civil strife costing many lives both soldiers and rebels. However, the rulers and others including certain clergy seem not have reckoned with History repeating itself and still keen to set the country aflame in nationalistic concepts like majority and the minority setting them against each other. Additionally, this country is famous for inherent corruption at every level politicos and otherwise. These countries will never learn and the History will keep repeating itself on and on without an ‘off’ ! Finally RIP …………………!
