Shoutouts and tips for others wanting to know the correct concept of how sweetcorn grows - Many thanks to those below that responded to my ask for help, when what I saw on some other 'channels' were not as I thought was right! You get the ears further down the stock. Usually get 2 ears from a stock sometimes only 1. The old saying is knee high by the 4th of July. That saying is from the midwest corn growing area in the USA as far as I know so probably not your growing zone. My corn is almost ready to pick my ears are about 3/4 filled out which is good because it's getting too muggy to spend much time in the garden. Unusually rainy year and longer spring but summer is here with a blow torch and a steam bath. I don't think it's good to cover the plants, they need the sun and mostly they need nature to polinator them.
