The Exorcist: Believer Only in Theaters October 13 Exactly 50 years ago this fall, the most terrifying horror film in history landed on screens, shocking audiences around the world. Now, on Friday, October 13, a new chapter begins. From Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green, who shattered the status quo with their resurrection of the Halloween franchise, comes The Exorcist: Believer. Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Tony winner and Oscar® nominee Leslie Odom, Jr.; One Night in Miami, Hamilton) has raised their daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett, Good Girls) on his own. But when Angela and her friend Katherine (newcomer Olivia Marcum), disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil. For the first time since the 1973 film, Oscar® winner Ellen Burstyn reprises her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, an actress who has been forever altered by what happened to her daughter Regan five decades before. The film also stars Emmy winner Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale, Hereditary) as Victor and Angela’s neighbor, and Grammy winner Jennifer Nettles (Harriet, The Righteous Gemstones) and two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz (Fosse/Verdon, Bloodline) as the parents of Katherine, Angela’s friend. When The Exorcist, based on the best-selling book by William Peter Blatty, was released, it changed the culture forever, obliterating box office records and earning 10 Academy Award® nominations, becoming the first horror film ever nominated for Best Picture. The Exorcist: Believer is directed by David Gordon Green from a screenplay by Peter Sattler (Camp X-Ray) and David Gordon Green, from a story by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills), Danny McBride (Halloween trilogy) and David Gordon Green, based on characters created by William Peter Blatty. The film is produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and by David Robinson and James G. Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment. The executive producers are Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, Stephanie Allain, Ryan Turek and Atilla Yücer. Universal Pictures presents a Blumhouse/Morgan Creek Entertainment production in association with Rough House Pictures. @juliemorrison3450قبل 9 أشهر Lifelong horror fan here. I watched The original Exorcist in 1975 when I was in my early teens and I still consider it one of the scariest films ever, id="hidden2" class="buttons"> if not the scariest. What made it so powerful IMO was the slow buildup with a gradual incursion of evil into very real, gritty lives of people who seemed absolutely credible. The tension was rising, the setting and characters were 100% believable, so that by the time the pea soup was flying, you were all in. The problem with a lot of Hollywood horror now is that they don't take the time to build up that tension or develop the characters, and just go overboard with over-the-top, all-out explosions of supernatural phenonema in your face 15 minutes in, so that you're just numb to it. ....وسعت 1592

@YouChwbقبل 9 أشهر For the generation Zeders and those who saw The Exorcist on VHS or Blu Ray, I saw it at the cinema. And this movie was a ground breaking horror flick which id="hidden12" class="buttons"> was more of an experience which I've never encountered in the cinema. Watching it was a very tight and frightening hit you in the face kind of flick, although at times my ears were getting popped by the women in the cinema screaming their lungs out which added to the atmosphere.
3 years ago I saw this on Netflix, and the smaller screens without the audience atmosphere doesn't do it justice. So see this as it's meant to be viewed, and you won't be disappointed.

  • @
@apollosun2913قبل 8 أشهر The original Exorcist is my all time favourite movie (competing for top spot with Die Hard). What made the
Exorcist awesome wasn't just the id="hidden15" class="buttons"> movie but the era in which it was released. The 70's was a whole lot different than the world we live in today. Back then there were no mobile phones or internet. If a home had a colour TV that was a luxury. Many people still had no electricity etc etc. What happened to Regan in the movie was considered a real and present danger, it was believed that could happen to anyone. Just as people got scared that the sun might not come up, thousands of years ago, in the 1970's people were truly scared about possession. The Exorcist was almost considered a documentary.
I didn't think much of any of the Exorcist sequels but quite liked season 1 of the tv reboot (apart from the last episode of season 1). I hope they've done justice to the original movie.

  • @
@iVjiDNiTEقبل 10 أشهر One of the reasons why The Exorcist worked for me was that it was based on much older times. The tone of the film felt different and you could feel the id="hidden16" class="buttons"> evil lurking in the shadows even though the film didn't show anything. It just gave out an eerie feeling all by itself. It's worth noting that when The Exorcist was released, it was the first time the public had ever seen anything like it and therefore had such an impact on people. Similar to Star Wars, at the time it was the first of its kind and so it was extremely successful. This new film right away has that modern take which removes a layer of horror already. You don't get the same feeling of horror when the girl walks into the church as you do when Regan walks into the living room and urinates herself. Not saying this film will suck, I'm simply making observations and opinions. Still I am very excited for this to come out and I hope its a good one! ....وسعت 1801

@MinisterChristopherقبل 8 أشهر Just got back from seeing it and I’ll give it a thumbs up. Disturbing modern horror and does it’s best to stay true to the original with some Easter eggs like Doctor Sleep did with The Shining. Like Smile earlier this year and several others, I love to see the nexus points between mental illness and spiritual warfare. This film did a good job throwing it all in the pot, because it always is all in the pot with humanity. The Dark in me loves this stuff. The Light in me is still dumbfounded how all of us, actors included, especially those children, how we willingly expose ourselves and offer ourselves up to The Demon in the ways we do. That is the number one theme of the movie, and why I feel it ended the way it did. ....وسعت 5

@TheMatthew5252قبل 10 أشهر The original came out at a time when nobody saw anything like it. There was suspense and desent from being a normal person to a depraved, possessed monster id="hidden31" class="buttons"> was gradual. We went on a journey with the mother through the doctor's tests and theories about what the trouble with the child was. The book was stunning in that respect. So, as the interviews with Blatty states, the film had a sort of documentary feel about it. So, considering all of that along with all of the movies depicting demonic possession, I have my doubts about this being very scary. Unless the director has done something we haven't seen before in this movie. ....وسعت 900
