Taken 7/1/20. The R179 fleet has been taken out of service due to a identified problem with a missing linkbar. Every R179 is out of service while the MTA individually checks, re-certifies every set and approves them going back into service. Since the yards these trains are normally based out of are near or at full capacity, some R179 sets are being stored in various other yards, specifically the Canarsie, Concourse, and Coney Island Yards. At the moment, there are three 10-car sets and one 8-car set at the Concourse Yard. And it seems like the people over at Concourse are having fun signing these trains up in all kinds of wacky programs: seen here are six R179 sets signed as an (A) train, an (L) train, a (D) train to Far Rockaway via 8th Avenue and Fulton Street, a (G) train to 18th Avenue via Crosstown Local, and a (S) train to Beach 67th Street.
