@BlessUpWithTshegoالعام الماضي Oh Jo. We can have it all though. One should not cancel the joy and pleasure of the other. 1186

@ceciliarpereiraالعام الماضي And that is the reason why she and Laurie could not be together: she did not love him, never loved him. Jo always saw him as a friend, a person who was id="hidden2" class="buttons"> there for her crazy things, but he was not capable of challenging her, of stimulating her. ....وسعت 1171

@melissaelias4768العام الماضي Epic scene. That line is real AF. Because it is so lonely to have no one to love when you wake up to reality 13

Edit: Since ppl are id="hidden3" class="buttons"> misunderstanding, this is not an analysis of Jo's words. They are my own feelings about society and expectations.

@Maggie_08العام الماضي This is the best little women adaptation hands down. All of the actors did a fantastic job of portraying each of their characters along with the dynamics. id="hidden4" class="buttons"> This is also the one that didn’t really make you want Laurie and Jo to be together (which is how it’s supposed to be) and him and Amy ending up together was perfect ....وسعت 39

@ilakkiyameenu6458العام الماضي I fell the same way too. I care more to be loved. Coz then it wouldn't break your heart the same way it does when you actually love them with all you've id="hidden6" class="buttons"> got and they leave. Being loved and not loving is all I strive for. ....وسعت 3

@yumiisvelmasghost6786العام الماضي It's so painfully relatable.. particularly growing up religiously.. just like, I'm so tired of fighting everyone and fighting just to be myself id="hidden7" class="buttons"> as a woman. I'm tired of fighting against everyone trying to tell me what to do or not to do or what is right and wrong as a woman. while I am not living in a world like this, its not like this anymore, I live in a world where I am a free woman that does not mean I am not still being told what I should or shouldn't do to be right or normal. and I'm still being told what makes me valuable, is if I have to have a partner even now to be a successful woman. I don't want to date for that reason and honestly i haven't dated because of this, it makes dating so painful.. because I sit there and I'm lonely and want love and someone to hold and be there for me and I be there for them, because it is, it's so lonely. especially when you want love but want. everything else too. I hope this made sense at all idk where I was going, I just related a lot to this emotion. The yearning for love but also freedom, this emotion is strong in me too even now. I want to be seen as more then just a woman, just a pretty face just this just that.. ....وسعت 59

@milesmoraless8441العام الماضي By this, I'm not exactly sure that Jo didn't love Laurie. Because she's talking about how she finds it hard to love because society expects id="hidden8" class="buttons"> a girl to love only and probably as the rebel Jo is, she tried not to love to defy society's standards. But with time, she's figuring out that she too needs to feel love as much as being loved. I think her fight with Laurie saying she can't be the person to love him and that they can't be together is because back then she probably was trying not to be in love and since she was younger and immature she thought that if she falls in love she'll become just like every other girl who just falls in love and let go of themselves as it used to happen back then. Did Jo love Laurie or not, I'm not sure of it, but I think there's an equal possibilities for both. ....وسعت 67

@Nerubiruالعام الماضي The universal answer is always, Love yourself first. Love = work. So work on yourself. Find that joy 6
  • @
@stellakay5148العام الماضي I relate to this on such a deep level. I want my freedom so much, but I want to be loved. And the people around me are constantly telling me that in a id="hidden9" class="buttons"> relationship, the man is to be the head and I can’t stand it. Why must there be a “head” of a partnership, a chosen relationship? a love? this idea repels me so much from any type of romantic relationship. I simply will not give up my independence. I have resigned myself to a life alone(in the sense of that kind of “love”) but sometimes I still find myself awake at night, longing in a deep part of myself that I always keep covered, to be cherished. I want to be chosen and loved. But I can’t give up my freedom. ....وسعت 8

@cuttiecrazy11العام الماضي A lot of people might see this and mistake this as a feminist regretting her choices
But it’s not that she thinks she was wrong about women being capable of more than love and motherhood— She’s saying she hates that there is dichotomy in society that makes it so a woman has to choose one or the other. A man can have love AND fulfill their dreams, express their talents, etc. But a woman, in her time, could only do one or the other.
This is still relevant for many women today, who are dealing with societies expectation that we must give up on our dreams in order to have a family, when in reality, the men we start the family with should be taking an equal role in domestic life, so that we can BOTH have that balance.

@marisantiago6287العام الماضي Laurie deserved someone who loves him back As a woman I noticed how society sympathizes with women over men I just think we should acknowledge that men id="hidden12" class="buttons"> also have feelings and anyone regardless of their gender shouldn’t be dealing with someone who uses them but people deserve to be loved and love back acknowledge eachother feelings ....وسعت 153

@Henry-sd7vdالعام الماضي Successful men usually have to give up all sorts of social life to focus on their craft and ambition. Being lonely is apart of that. But they do so, with id="hidden13" class="buttons"> the reassurance that once they make it, they would have the money and get the pick of the women.
Women on the contrary have to be attractive regardless of the money to have the top pick of the men. A more beautiful broke college girl will still be superior to you in terms of being desired by the opposite sex.

@loulie1997العام الماضي This was a beautiful monologue delivered so well and I HATE that in spite of the thesis that this monologue represents, that it went on to completely trivialize, id="hidden14" class="buttons"> just absolutely murder Bhaer’s character.
Bhaer was Jo’s intellectual equal. He didn’t devalue her work, or her ambition, or her womanhood, or her humanity. He pushed her to be better, and even used his connections to work against the patriarchal system to help Jo’s career in a society that wanted to keep her down. And in addition to all this, he was the soft and calming and peacemaking spirit that perfectly complimented Jo’s fiery and often times impulsive and reckless attitude and temper. He helped her find solace in a lifetime of anger.
AND YET. They treated him like he was a joke. A means to an end to get her book published. A fake little nobody who wasn’t necessary for Jo to feel fulfilled DESPITE her saying here how unfulfilled she feels without having someone in her life. He was given the indignity of being a means to an end when really, he was Jo’s equal and her other half.
You are not weak to want love. It does not diminish your ambition, it does not get in the way of you accomplishing all you want, and it does not somehow perpetuate an oppressive system that wants to keep women down. If you have the right partner (AND BHAER WAS THAT RIGHT PARTNER), it will only assist you in becoming who you were meant to be.
We should be lifting literary character like Bhaer up. Using them as an example of male kindness, honor, and non-toxic masculinity. Not treating them like a punchline.

@Bweygالعام الماضي "I don't want to love, I want to be loved." That my not-so-female-friend is going to keep you single for a LONG time, because men don't id="hidden15" class="buttons"> like selfish women, they like women who can treat them well with love and respect, who can take AND give back to their partner. Women always want the benefits but never want to give the benefits to their man. (And yes I know this is some movie clip or something like that I'm not exactly sure, but I still wanted to make that point.) ....وسعت 2

@bvnisvlngm1643العام الماضي I think it would be better if people just raised women and little ladies to just not believe in love. Better to be proven wrong if they find the right id="hidden19" class="buttons"> one just like in fairytales than to wait or get their hearts broken over and over again after trusting the bullcrap we see on tv. I love seeing happy couples ..I really do. But there was this girl who I knew and this girl was just so into this whole concept of love that she just kept on trying and trying and..don't give me that bullcrap of how she chose wrong or bla..Doesn't everyone deserve to be loved if they just want it? They feed you these filthy fairytales to you day in day out but in reality some boys are just..plain evil? It is just pure luck for some. These cute old couples, they just got lucky. Pure circumstance. Right place right time thing. And then of course their own effort that they put into the relationship to keep it alive. But your luck if you meet a serial killer in a family dinner or your future soulmate in a club. Some girls are beautiful perfect everything but end up getting murdered. Do you know the biggest critics are secretly just people who have high expectations? The ones who are bitter are probably the biggest romantics and they are angry because they know what they want is impossible. Why give false hope? Have you seen the difference between shoujo and shounen manga for example? The whole pink and blue thing? The whole makeup tutorials and science projects thing? How are we humans supposed to be better than animals? Even animals get to do what they want when they want? Like both male and female rats chew up your wires .. ( except if a human interferes with your life of course) Why break hearts for no reason? ....وسعت 16

@Josh-kt6jhالعام الماضي That’s why she ended up alone. I empathised and understood her character. But it proved why if you think like this, you stop yourself from experiencing both female empowerment/ independence ASWEll as stability and love.
Women who think like her aren’t capable of being loyal to anyone but themselves. That’s okay; but at least own up to that. You can’t love or be loved so keep running

@sweatycalvesالعام الماضي They'll never know the lonliness of a man, to wish to find love and know that any emotion castrates you from society. To have to be these emotionless id="hidden21" class="buttons"> things that sacrifice everything for the sake of the weak or innocent and get no thanks for it. To wish to find peace and happiness yet get stepped on at every turn. A man's destiny is to be alone, to give all he Jason and die only when the job is finished, he gets no peace, he gets only the slight satisfaction of completion. And even then. ....وسعت 10

Like the first id="hidden23" class="buttons"> sip of water after a lifetime of running, multiplied by a million. Like the weight is off your shoulders.
