@SadieDLdn4 years ago I actually found having a puppy way harder than I thought I would - even though she was a great pup I was overwhelmed and I cried q a bit at first! All I wanted was to be the best dog mum I could be. It got so much easier though as we put a lot of work and time into her just like you! The best advice I had on puppy biting was from my breeder who was a positive reinforcement behaviourist - it was when she bit at me - to stand up and turn around like you’re doing (wearing shoes if biting feet) and then when she was calm to turn round give her a toy and reward her with the sound of my voice/pat on head/treat. Zak George is awesome - delighted you are using him. Just remember he is a baby dog - he’s never being naughty just being a dog. I tired to remind myself of that every time I started to feel frustration with my pup x ... 17

@risaperdue4 years ago One thing I read that can help with biting, and them being more gentle with you in general, is to put something like butter (ideally something a little healthier lol) on your hands. Then let him lick it off while you repeatedly say "gentle." If he bites or nibbles, you pull your hand back and only return it if he just licks. I didn't try this with my pup so I can't back it up but I think it's an interesting technique. :) ... 2

@helenakathedollyworldunive8354 years ago keep a chew toy on you all the time. when he bites, you show him the toy instead. over time he should stop biting you and just play with his toys 25

@cassiecatton28704 years ago I have a 1 year old lab and she still gets cranky lol I will say that pumpkin is a natural probiotic for dogs and so much cheaper than the pills. It has to be 100% pumpkin. I have 2 dogs and they go to doggy daycare (which I totally recommend to help with socialization and energy) and my 5 year old boxer/lab got giardia twice. We put her on pumpkin rotation and she has not had it since! My lab hasn’t gotten it either. And the daycare did have an outbreak last year. Plus my pups love it! ...

@SandraO8114 years ago So I learned before I got my last 2 dogs that a puppy’s metabolism slows down at night when they sleep so I would cut off water 2 hours before bedtime, make sure they’re tired out and put them in the crate. Exactly 8 hours later I would take them out and carry them outside to potty. This worked for us! I would carry them so they wouldn’t stop and pee in the house. They may cry a bit but they both got used to the routine quickly. ... 2

@vanyc57164 years ago They usually learn not too bite so hard from playing with other dogs. Ever time my dog nipped at me I would bite his ear (not hard to break skin) but enough to let them know that biting hurts. 1

@_panpan_74934 years ago Granny's Bitter Apple spray saved our furniture when my girl was a pup. Avoid PetSmart dog training please. My pup got bit in the face because the trainer let an old dog into the group. Punctured her muzzle, blood everywhere and I had to pry the dog's mouth open to free my girl. Very traumatic. ... 1

@asteria34624 years ago I have a 6 and a half year old Pomeranian and im gonna be honest.. he's so far from perfect. He's basically the opposite of how you want Buddy to be; bites when he has food in his mouth, doesn't let us brush him/his teeth, nail clipping is still hard to do, i cant pick him up whenever i want.. its really disappointing to see my dog like that since i compare him to other ''perfect dogs''. I still love him, he loves cuddles and kisses, but your life would be so much easier Morgan if you keep on doing what you're doing ! ... 1

@boaforever4 years ago Tennis balls 🥎 are pure toxic ☠ for dogs cause the neon colour, buy better a ball special for dogs, which are often without toxic substances in general on the outside, but in tennis balls the neon-colored fibers are toxic on the outside, it is already given too much freedom, such as snapping, where you just have to howl like another puppy and ignore for about 3 minutes and then the normal one should go on everyday. The puppy then usually quickly understands what he did wrong, if it does not work, just push him lightly after crying and continue ignoring the rest, etc. just as a tip, the rest will hopefully learn in the dog school, because there are still many mistakes to see... ... 1
