The Falklands War 40th anniversary – timeline of the conflict

Take a look back at the timeline of events leading up to and during the Falklands War as 40 years are marked since the islands were invaded by Argentina. Argentina invaded the Falklands on April 2 1982, prompting the UK to send a military task force to recover the islands. Argentine forces surrendered on June 14 – by which point 255 British and 649 Argentine personnel had been killed, as well as three Falkland Islanders.
